University Institute of Laws,PURC,Ludhiana organised a ‘two day’event Model Youth Parliament ,2020


University Institute of Laws,PURC,Ludhiana organised a ‘two day’event Model Youth Parliament ,2020 on 28th February,2020 as an endevour to provide a platform to young lawyers and socially enthusiastic students to discuss and debate on issues of National importance and to propose solutions for the same.
The event was inaugrated by lamp lighting ceremony by the Chief Guests S.Ravneet Singh Bittu,Member Of Parliament and Prof.Devinder Singh along with Prof.RaviInderSingh,Director PURC Ludhiana and Prof.ArtiPuri,Coordinator,Department of Law  and Dr. Shiv Kumar Dogra. After that ,Director Ravi Inder Singh presented a hearty welcome to chief guest.
After the ceremony Prof.ArtiPuri introduced the event to the audience and gave insight above the recognised issues of Lok Sabha i.e. The Citizenship (Amendment) Act,2019 and One Nation One Election.
Prof.Devinder Singh was the keynote speaker for the event and emphasized on the importance of organising such events which provide a platform to youth to experience the environment of the Parliament and gives the empowering feeling of being capable to bring change in the society.
In the first session, Citizenship Amendment Act,2019  was discussed taking in account the right to equality and principle of secularism enshrined in our constitution. Students were divided into different portfolios  and they expressed their opinions about the pros and cons of the Act.
It provided an insight to the audience about the act.
The second session was based on the issue ‘One Nation, One Election’. Different portfolios depicted different perspectives of elections, its loopholes, its advantages and how the election process can be improved.
The first day of the event was concluded with the felicitation of the guests and Vote of Thanks by Dr. Shiv Kumar Dogra, Coordinator of B.A. LL.B., P.U.R.C. ,Ldh.
The event proved to be a great source of learning for the participants.

"धुन्ध के बावजूद एस. सी. डी. सरकारी कॉलेज का 100वां खेल समारोह सम्पन्न"

सतीश चन्द्र धवन सरकारी महाविद्यालय लुधियाना का 100वां खेल समारोह धूम-धाम से सम्पन्न हुआ। खेल समारोह के दूसरे दिन सुबह में गहरी धुन्ध छाई हुई थी परंतु आयोजकों के हौसले और विद्यार्थियों के जज्बे ने समारोह पर धुन्ध नहीं पड़ने दिया। दूसरे दिन भी बड़ी भारी संख्या में विद्यार्थियों ने बढ़ चढ़कर हर प्रतियोगिता में हिस्सा लिया और महाविद्यालय के गौरवशाली खेल इतिहास में अपनी उपस्थिति दर्ज कराई।
प्राचार्य डॉ. धर्म सिंह संधू ने मुख्य अतिथि सरदार कुलजीत सिंह नागरा(एम एल ए), विशेष अतिथि श्रीमती ममता आशु(काउंसलर), श्री रमन सुभरमन्यम(चेयरमैन, इम्प्रोवमेंट ट्रस्ट लुधियाना), मेयर श्री बलकार सिद्धू का हार्दिक स्वागत किया। उन्होंने कहा कि आज इस महाविद्यालय के लिए गर्व के क्षण है कि इसके शताब्दी वर्ष आयोजन में 100वें खेल समारोह के समापन समारोह के मुख्य अतिथि सरदार कुलजीत सिंह नागरा जी इसी महाविद्यालय के सन 1986 के विद्यार्थी रहे हैं। इसके साथ साथ स. नागरा हॉकी के बहुत अच्छे खिलाड़ी रहे हैं। प्राचार्य संधू ने सहर्ष बताया कि  हमारे मुख्य अतिथि फतेहगढ़ साहिब विधानसभा हल्का से पिछले 10 वर्षों से विधानसभा सदस्य रहे हैं और वर्तमान में मुख्य मंत्री पंजाब के सलाहकार भी हैं। इसके साथ साथ राजनीतिक क्षेत्र में कई महत्त्वपूर्ण जिम्मेदारियों को निभा रहे हैं। उन्होंने कहा कि नागरा जी विद्यार्थियों में शुरू से ही लोकप्रिय होने के साथ साथ इन्होंने छात्र राजनीति में काफी सक्रिय रहते हुए उन्होंने छात्रों का नेतृत्व किया है। राजनीतिक क्षेत्र में छात्र जीवन से सक्रियता उन्हें पंजाब विधान सभा में स्थापित करती है। उन्होंने यह ज़ोर देकर कहा कि आज हम सभी के लिए गर्व का विषय है कि वर्तमान पंजाब विधान सभा में 1 केबिनेट मिनिस्टर के साथ साथ हमारे 5 विद्यार्थी विधान सभा सदस्य है।
शारीरिक शिक्षा एवं खेल विभाग की अध्यक्षा प्रो. हरविंदर कौर ने विभाग की वार्षिक रिपोर्ट संक्षेप में प्रस्तुत की। उन्होंने बताया कि कॉलेज की *ऐथलैटिक्स* टीम ने अंतर कॉलेज प्रतियोगिता में गुरकोमल सिंह,राहुल गौतम,कंवरदीप सिंह तथा प्रसन्नजीत सिंह ने 400 मीटर रिले दौड़ में स्वर्ण पदक प्राप्त किया। इसी प्रकार मुकेश कुमार,तुषार ,कंवरदीप सिंह तथा प्रसन्नजीत सिंह ने 100 मीटर रिले दौड़ में स्वर्ण पदक पदक प्राप्त किया।
कॉलेज की *बास्केटबॉल* टीम ने अन्तर कालेज मुकाबले में ब्रान्ज़ मैडल  तथा पंजाब स्टेट बास्केटबाल चैम्पियनशिप गोल्ड मैडल प्राप्त किया। कंवर गुरबाज सिंह संधु, गुरनूर सिंह,विश्वजीत तथा जयदीप सिंह ने अन्तर युनिवर्सिटी में भी भाग लिया।
कालेज की *वॉलीबॉल* टीम ने पंजाब युनिवर्सिटी के अन्तर मुकाबले में ब्रान्ज़ मैडल प्राप्त किया इसी टीम के अंकुश,अभिषेक,जसकरन सिंह तथा राजनप्रीत सिंह ने पंजाब युनिवर्सिटी की प्रतिनिधिता की। वॉलीबॉल खिलाड़ी गुरप्रीत सिंह,अभिषेक,माईकल,राजनप्रीत,जसकरन सिंह एवं प्रिंसपाल सिंह ने यूथ नैशनल वालीबाल मुकाबले में भाग लिया। दीपक शर्मा,गुरप्रीत सिंह,महकदीप सिंह,जसकरन सिंह और माईकल ने खेलो इण्डिया गेम्ज़ में  हिस्सा लिया।राजनप्रीत सिंह,गुरप्रीत सिंह,माईकल,बंटी,लवप्रीत सिंह,जसकरन सिंह,दीपक शर्मा,सनप्रीत सिंह तथा अंकुश ने अंडर 25 पंजाब स्टेट गेम्ज़ में गोल्ड मैडल प्राप्त किया। *क्रिकेट* के क्षेत्र में कालेज की टीम ने युनिवर्सिटी  के अन्तर कालेज मुकाबलों में भाग लिया।कालेज के विद्यार्थी निहाल वडेरा ने कूच बिहार ट्राफी में भाग लिया।इस विद्यार्थी ने रणजी ट्राफी में भी भाग लिया। *बैडमिंटन* खेल में मिताकस गांधी ने पंजाब स्टेट  पुरुष डबल मुकाबले में रजत पदक प्राप्त किया तथा आल इण्डिया नैशनल बैडमिंटन रैंकिग टूर्णामेंट बैंगलोर में भाग लिया। कालेज की *हैंडबॉल* टीम ने अंतर कॉलेज प्रतियोगिता में ब्रान्ज़ मैडल प्राप्त किया। प्रदीप,साहिल शर्मा,तथा मनदीप सिंह ने नार्थ जान  अन्तर युनिवर्सिटी में भी भाग लिया जिसमें साहिल शर्मा, मनदीप सिंह,प्रदीप प्रधान,सोनु एवं राजनवीर सिंह ने स्वर्ण पदक प्राप्त किया।मनदीप सिंह,साहिल शर्मा तथा राजनवीर सिंह ने पंजाब स्टेट सीनियर हैंडबाल चैम्पियनशिप में भाग लिया। 
*ताईकवांडो* के क्षेत्र में राहुल और अशोक कुमार ने पंजाब युनिवर्सिटी अन्तर कालेज में ब्रान्ज मैडल प्राप्त किया। इसी खेल के लड़कियों के मुकाबले में  कोमल एवं दीक्षा शर्मा ने भाग लिया और दीक्षा शर्मा ने इसमें ब्रान्ज़ मैडल प्राप्त किया। *वूशू* के अन्तर कालेज प्रतियोगिता में राहुल ने ब्रान्ज़ मैडल प्राप्त किया। कॉलेज की *खो-खो* टीम ने अन्तर कालेज मुकाबला में भाग लिया तथा गोल्ड मैडल प्राप्त किया।कालेज के छ:खिलाड़ी नरिन्द्र,शाम कुमार,गोविन्द कुमार,शाम,अनिल कुमार तथा जसवीर सिंह ने पंजाब युनिवर्सिटी की प्रतिनिधिता की और नार्थ जोन अन्तर युनिवर्सिटी मुकाबले मे प्रथम स्थान प्राप्त किया। अखिल भारतीय  प्रतियोगिता में भाग लिया तथा पंजाब सीनियर स्टेट में तीसरा स्थान प्राप्त किया। *रोलर स्केटिंग* खेल में कालेज के खिलाड़ी जुगादवीर सिंह गरेवाल ने अन्तर युनिवर्सिटी में भाग लिया। इन सभी विद्यार्थियों को सम्मान चिह्न, ट्रैक-सूट, प्रमाणपत्र से सम्मानित किया गया। 
मुख्य अतिथि स. कुलजीत सिंह नागरा ने अपने संबोधन में इस महाविद्यालय में बिताए दिनों को याद किया और कहा कि यह संस्था एक मंदिर है, जिसके प्रति बारम्बार नतमस्तक होने को दिल करता है। उन्होंने कहा कि मैं एक साधारण परिवार में पला-बढ़ा और इस महाविद्यालय में मिली सुविधाओं और मूल्यवान शिक्षा की बदौलत आज आपके बीच खड़ा हूँ।उन्होंने खिलाड़ी-विद्यार्थियों को संबोधित करते हुए कहा कि खेल हमेशा हमें चेतित रखती है, स्वस्थ रखती है और जीवन की कठिनाइयों-समस्याओं से जूझने के लिए बल प्रफां करती है। आज समाज में नशा जो एक महामारी की तरह फैला हुआ है, उसे हम सभी अपनी जिम्मेदारी समझकर मिटाएं। जब हमारे घर में गंदगी होती है, तब हम स्वयं उसकी सफाई करते है। उसी तरह हम सभी को मिलकर इस दिशा में आगे बढ़ने की आवश्यकता है। उन्होंने महाविद्यालय के गौरवमयी इतिहास को दुहराया और कहा कि इस इतिहास का हिस्सा बनना मेरे लिए मान की बात है।
श्री सुभरमन्यम ने अपने संबोधन ने कहा कि वह भले ही इस महाविद्यालय के छात्र नहीं हैं, परंतु यहां उनकी रूह बस्ती है। उन्होंने कहा कि साहिर उनके पसंदीदा शायर रहे हैं और आज साहिर के कॉलेज में आकर धन्य हो गए। विद्यार्थियों को संबोधित करते हैं उन्होंने कहा कि हमारे जीवन में मोबाइल आवश्यक तो है परंतु उतना नहीं जितना पुस्तक।
इस अवसर पर स. जगदेव सिंह (ओलम्पियन), स. गुरदेव सिंह(खेल कोच), महाविद्यालय का पुराना विद्यार्थी माधव(तैराकी में 65 गोल्ड मैडल प्राप्त करने वाला), श्री ब्रिज बिहारी जी, पूर्व प्राचार्य श्रीमती जसबीर कौर मक्कर, डॉ. वी पी गॉड, डॉ. आर. के. मिगलानी, स. जगपाल सिंह(सीनेटर), डॉ. मुकेश कुमार अरोड़ा(सीनेटर), अर्थशास्त्र के लोकप्रिय खोजकर्ता प्रो. आर. आर. पॉल जी को सम्मानित किया गया। समारोह के अंत में उप-प्राचार्या डॉ. अमरजीत कौर ने सभी अतिथियों का धन्यवाद किया।

School of Design and Innovation lifts overall trophy of ‘Tarang’ at CTU


Ludhiana: CT University organised an Inter-School competition ‘Tarang’ wherein all the schools namely School of Management Studies, School of Humanities and Physical Education, School of Law, School of Engineering and Technology, School of Pharmaceuticals and Healthcare Sciences, School of Agriculture and Natural Sciences, School of Hotel Management, Airlines and Tourism and School of Design and Innovation participated.
The students from all the schools participated in events like Skit, Mime, Best out of Waste, Collage Making, Rangoli, Mehandi, Face Painting, Documentary/ Short Film, Tasveerien bolti hai: Selfie Contest, Solo Singing, Fashion Show, Punjabi Rasoi, Solo Dance, Group Dance and Caption Writing. The overall trophy was lifted by School of Design and Innovation followed by 1st Runner up by School of Engineering and Technology.
Congratulating the winners CTU Vice Chancellor, Dr Harsh Sadawarti, said, “These events bring out the best of potential in students. The events, within campus, up bring students to prepare for National level events. Also, students can tap their unexplored sides.”
Manbir Singh, Managing Director, congratulated the winners and encouraged student for future endeavours.

100th Annual Athletic Meet at SCD Government College

The 100th Annual Athletic Meet of SCD Government College, Ludhiana began amid fanfare on 26th February 2020 in the vibrantly decorated sports ground.   S Simratpal Singh Dhindsa. DCP Ludhiana declared  the Meet open on 26th February 2020. Principal Dr  Dharam Singh Sandhu welcomed the guests. DCP Ludhiana,  S. Dhindsa  unfurled the Sports flag and took the salute of the marching contingents. The different contingents were led by the players of the college who have made their mark in different sporting competitions,  national and international. 
Knwar Gurbaaz Singh & Gurnoor Singh (International Basketball) players who won Gold medal in Khelo India Games, Punjab State Basketball Championship  and won Silver in North Zone. 
Gurkomal Singh (Athletics) won Gold in 800 mtrs in Inter College & North Zone Athletics Championship.
Shyam (Kho Kho) won Gold in North Zone & Nehal Wadhera (Cricket)  participated in Ranji Trophy. Abhishek (Volleyball), Jasbir Singh (Kho - Kho) & Deeksha (Taekwondo) also won several places on tournaments .
After the march past, other players who have made their mark carried the Flame . Vishavdeep Singh & Jaideep Singh, (Basketball) have won  Gold in Punjab State Basketball Championship Sahil & Pardeep Kumar (Handball) won Gold in Punjab State Handball Championship,  Gobind Kumar (Kho Kho),  Amaninder Singh (Athletics),  Kunal and Manpreet Singh  also won Gold medals in various competitions. Uday Bhaskar took the oath on behalf of all the participants and pledged to uphold  honourable participation. 
In his address to the students, DCP Dhindsa exhorted the students to keep the menace of drugs at bay. He also said  that if any one person gets addicted to drugs in the house, the women of the family are the worst affected. Each one of us should take the pledge to ensure that we take the initiative to free at least one person from drugs.

स्नातकोत्तर अंग्रेजी विभाग द्वारा विस्तार भाषण का आयोजन

सतीश चन्द्र धवन सरकारी महाविद्यालय लुधियाना के स्नातकोत्तर अंग्रेजी विभाग द्वारा विस्तार भाषण का आयोजन करवाया गया जिसमें मुख्य वक्ता के रूप में डॉ. संगीता हांडा(सेवानिवृत्त प्राचार्या, सरकारी महिन्द्रा कॉलेज, पाटियाला) पधारे। विस्तार भाषण का विषय : 'उत्तर औपनिवेशिक साहित्य' पर केंद्रित रहा। विस्तार भाषण के आयोजन का उद्देश्य विद्यार्थियों में उत्तर औपनिवेशिक विचारधारा से उपजे साहित्य लेखन से रु-ब-रु करना व इस विषय के विशेषज्ञ द्वारा अपनी समझ का विस्तार करना रहा।  महाविद्यालय के प्राचार्य डॉ. धर्म सिंह संधू, अंग्रेजी विभाग की अध्यक्षा प्रो. तनवीर लिखारी व विभाग के प्राध्यापकों नने पुष्पगुच्छ के साथ मुख्य वक्ता का स्वागत किया।  प्रो. हरमीत कौर झज्ज ने मुख्य वक्ता का परिचय कराया और बताया कि आज की मुख्य वक्ता डॉ. हांडा उत्तर औपनिवेशिक साहित्य के विषय विशेषज्ञ हैं जिन्हें देश के विभिन्न संस्थाओं द्वारा अकादमिक स्तर पर परस्पर विचार समन्वय की दृष्टि से विदेश यात्रा पर भी भेजा जाता रहा है। अंग्रेजी विषय में अपने मौलिक खोज के लिए पूरा पंजाब उन्हें जानता है और सेवानिवृत्ति के बाद भी आज कई विद्यार्थी उनके निर्देशन में शोधकार्य कर रहे हैं। उन्होंने बताया कि डॉ. हांडा इस विषय के साथ-साथ नारी विमर्श व उत्तर नारी विमर्श पर भी गहरी पकड़ रखती हैं। दर्जनों पुस्तकों के रचयिता डॉ. हांडा को अकादमिक क्षेत्र में उत्कृष्ट योगदान के लिए पंजाब सरकार द्वारा राज्य पुरस्कार प्राप्त हो चुका है। 
डॉ. संगीता हांडा ने पीपीटी के माध्यम से उत्तर औपनिवेशिक साहित्य लेखन पर विस्तारपूर्वक चर्चा की और उत्तर औपनिवेशिक साहित्य के सैध्दान्तिक पक्ष को भी अपने विषय का आधार बनाया। उन्होंने बड़ी गहराई व बारीकी से उत्तर औपनिवेशिक विचारधारा, इस विचारधारा के कारक,  इस विचारधारा से उपजे साहित्य व उसके उद्देश्य  पर प्रकाश डाला। उन्होंने यह जोर देकर कहा कि ब्रिटिश विचारधारा से जिस उत्तर औपनिवेशिक साहित्य की उपज हुई है, उसका जितना प्रभाव अफ्रीकी देशों के लेखन पर पड़ा है, उतना भारतीय लेखन पर नहीं। इसका कारण उन्होंने भारत की मजबूत भाषिक व सांस्कृतिक संरचना को माना है। उन्होंने कहा कि भारत की लोक विरासत ने आज तक इस विचारधारा से अपने आपको बचा रखा है परंतु ऐसा भी नहीं है कि भारतीय लेखन इस विचारधारा से अछूता है। 
प्राचार्य डॉ. धर्म सिंह संधू ने अपने संबोधन में कहा कि साहित्य हमें अपने जीवन के अनुभवों से जोड़ता है। साहित्य तो अपनी जीवन यात्रा(अनुभव) को पृष्ठों पर अंकित करने की प्रक्रिया है जिसे भावी पीढ़ी पढ़कर न सिर्फ उससे संदेश लेती है बल्कि उन अनुभवों को पुनः जीने का उपक्रम भी करती है। इस अवसर पर विभाग के उन छात्रों को सम्मानित भी किया गया जिन्होंने साहित्य लेखन में अपनी रुचि दिखाई व प्रतियोगिता में हिस्सा लिया। कार्यक्रम के अन्त में विभाग की प्राध्यापिका प्रो. रीतिन्दर जोशी ने धन्यवाद ज्ञापित किया।

आर्य कॉलेज गर्ल्ज़ सेक्शन में “ऐन्यूअल स्पोर्ट्स मीट” का भव्य आयोजन

लुधियाना: स्थानीय आर्य कॉलेज गर्ल्ज़ सेक्शन में वार्षिक खेल दिवस हर्षोल्लास से मनाया गया। इस अवसर पर छात्राओं ने बढ़ चढ़ कर प्रत्येक खेल में हिस्सा लिया।कार्यक्रम का शुभारम्भ मशाल प्रज्ज्वलित कर तथा शपथ ग्रहण कर किया गया।इस रंगारंग कार्यक्रम में विभिन्न प्रकार की खेलों जैसे 100मीटर रेस, 200 मीटर रेस, 400 मीटर रेस,लेमन स्पून रेस, जैवेलिन थ्रो, डिस्कस थ्रो, सैक रेस, लोंग जम्प, हाई जम्प, म्यूज़िकल
चेयर रेस इत्यादि का आयोजन किया गया तथा छात्राओं ने सभी खेलों में बड़े चाव और उमंग से हिस्सा लिया।छात्राओं  ने योगा और ऐरोबिक्स की भी सुंदर प्रस्तुति दी।इस के साथ ही छात्राओं ने महाशिवरात्रि के पावन पर्व के उपलक्ष्य में शिव स्तुति वंदना पर भी मनमोहक प्रस्तुति दी।इस अवसर पर सचिव ए॰सी॰एम॰सी॰ श्रीमती सतीशा शर्मा जी, प्रिं. डॉ. सविता उप्पल तथा इंचार्ज गर्ल्ज़ सेक्शन श्रीमती सूक्ष्म आहलूवालिया भी उपस्थित रहे ।  श्रीमती सूक्ष्म आहलूवालिया जी ने विशेषातिथियों का हार्दिक अभिनंदन किया तथा सभी छात्राओं के स्वास्थवर्धक जीवन के लिए खेलकूद के महत्व से उन्हें अवगत भी कराया। 100 मीटर रेस में गिरिजा खन्ना को प्रथम, पिंकी को द्वितीय तथा अर्चना को तृतीय पुरस्कार प्राप्त हुआ और 200मीटर रेस में भानू को प्रथम, साक्षी को द्वितीय तथा नंदिनी को तृतीय पुरस्कार प्राप्त हुआ।कार्यक्रम के अंत में बी॰ ए॰ प्रथम वर्ष की छात्रा साक्षी को सर्वश्रेष्ठ खिलाड़ी की ट्रोफ़ी प्रदान की गयी।अंत में सभी प्रतिभागियों को मेडल तथा प्रमाण पत्र वितरित किए गये । मिस सुशीला कुमारी और मिस सरजहाँ को उन के शानदार प्रदर्शन के लिए विशेष रूप से पुरस्कृत किया गया।कॉलेज प्रभारी श्रीमती सूक्ष्म आहलूवालिया जी द्वारा इस कार्यक्रम की भरपूर सराहना की गयी।

CT Varsity honors 10 medical practitioners


Ludhiana: CT University, Ludhiana, conferred 10 Medical practitioners with Post Graduate Certificate in Healthcare Management (PGCHM) during a ‘Felicitation Ceremony’ held at the campus. The certificate is modeled to impart the medical fraternity with skills based in Healthcare Management and overcome managerial challenges. They were honored by Chancellor Charanjit Singh Channi and Vice Chancellor Dr Harsh Sadawarti.
While receiving the PGCHM, Vivan Singh Gill, Vice President, Max Hospital, Chandigarh, thanked CTU and said, “This flagship programme with CTU will benefit in providing exposure based knowledge that is practical and theoretical as well. It carries entire healthcare scenario. This programme is also beneficial for budding doctors and interested people for a great career.”
While honouring the Medical practitioners, Dr Harsh Sadawarti, said, “I congratulate the Healthcare Fraternity who chose this unique programme and successfully completed it. This signature programme provides a path to career advancement in the diverse field of healthcare, offering opportunities to move between different environments and face new challenges. Moreover, this course familiarizes the participants with innovation and entrepreneurship in Indian healthcare sector. The conferred will result to be alumni of CTU and provide future endeavors for budding medical professionals."

FLAGSHIP RESIDENT EXCELLENCE PROGRAMME held

Department of Obst. & Gynae, Dayanand Medical College & Hospital in association with INDIAN ASSOCIATION OF GYNAECOLOGICAL ENDOSCOPISTS (IAGE) organized a FLAGSHIP RESIDENT EXCELLENCE PROGRAMME under the aegis of PROJECT EAGLE on 22nd – 23rd February 2020.  It focused on imparting basic Laparoscopy skills to the post graduates & residents through Endo trainers and resourceful modules. ECTOPIA -2020 got ended with scintillating Fashion Show and Batch 2018 emerging as “Best Batch”

ECTOPIA -2020 reached its crescendo yesterday evening with exhilarating ‘Duet dance performance’ by students. The participants were seen shaking and wiggling their legs with amazing dance moves, which enthused the audience of medicos to scream in joy and excitement.
The, came the highly-awaited scintillating ‘Fashion Show’ performed by a number of participants. All the participants had toiled very hard for the past several weeks to show their perfection in ramp walking and showing stylish gestures wearing brilliant fashion-clad outfits.
Members of the Managing Society and medical administrators presided on this concluding day of the ECTOPIA.
In an impressive valedictory function organized, Gurnoor Singh of Batch 2017 was declared as Mr Ectopia and Ms Sonam Dhall of Batch 2016 as Ms Ectopia. Both were felicitated by the dignitaries present on the occasion
Principal Dr Sandeep Puri, who is also Chairperson of DMCH Cultural Committee, expressed his warmest thanks to all the participants, students, faculty members and coordinators in making this cultural show a great success.

‘Ik Sandhu Hunda Si’ will definitely stay with you for a long time


Chandigarh: Golden Bridge Films & Entertainment Pvt. Ltd is all set to release their upcoming Punjabi film, Ik Sandhu Hunda Si, on 28th February 2020. 
This film features Gippy Grewal and Neha Sharma in lead roles. Along with them Dheeraj Kumar, Babbal Rai, Raghveer Boli, Roshan Prince, Vikramjeet Singh Virk are playing pivotal characters. Rakesh Mehta has directed this action-romance caper. The story of the film is written by Jass Grewal. Sham Kaushal has directed the action sequences in the film. 
The whole project is produced by Bally Singh Kakar. The music of the film will be released under Humble Music.
On this occasion, Gippy Grewal said, “Ik Sandhu Hunda Si is not just an action film it is a complete package of romance, friendship, emotion. Till now, the response songs and trailer has received is beyond our expectations and we just hope this will continue with the film also.”
The leading lady of the film, Neha Sharma said, “This is my first Punjabi film, I am quite excited about my new innings. I just hope people will accept me in this new avatar.”
Revealing his character, Roshan Prince said, “When I got this script, I was so impressed with my character (Gill) particularly. I am sure that this character will leave an impact on the audience.”
Babbal Rai on his film and upcoming projects said, “My character is not shown in the trailer, which has created the curiosity among the audiences. I just hope when they will finally watch it in the film, it will not disappoint at all.”
Sharing his views captain of the ship, Rakesh Mehta said, “As the release of the film is just around the corner. So, the whole team is putting their best forwarding in promoting the film. I believe we have done our job now it’s up to audiences how they are going to perceive it.”
Producer of the film, Bally Singh Kakar quoted, “Being the producer of this film, we are quite confident about our project. Having such a talented star cast and team onboard has been a wonderful experience. We are quite sure that this film will set a benchmark for action-romantic films in Pollywood.”

1st NATIONAL CONFERENCE OF SOCIETY OF PUBLIC HEALTH EDUCATION, RESEARCH AND EMPOWERMENT (SPHERE)


The Ist National Conference of Society of Public Health Education, Research and Empowerment was held from 20th to 21st February 2020 at DMCH College of Nursing, Malakpur, Ludhiana. The theme of Conference was “Filling the gaps in Primary Health Care Challenges for Nurse Practitioners” The Conference kicked off on Thursday with Keynotes and two sessions successively on Nurse Practitioners and Challenges for prevention of diseases and health promotion, role of nurse practitioner in managing expanded service delivery and continuum of care in primary health care chaired by Dr. Sandhya Gupta, Dr. Darshan Sohi, Prof. Glory Samuel, Mr. J.C. Frank.
Luminaries of the world of nursing & medical field graced the occasion& chaired the five sessions. During the conference, 27 scientific papers were presented and compiled into compendium and it was released by esteemed guests & dignitaries.

He shared that with an outburst of unknown diseases and pandemics, has a significant impact on medical as well as paramedical sectors. So, there is a great need for efficient and trained nurses to cater the increased medical needs of the people and providing excellence in nursing. He believed that issue under reference shall be emphasized in conference to enhance potential of faculty by means of knowledge.
Mr. Prem Kumar Gupta, Secretary DMCH Managing Society emphasized that the theme of conference is aptly chosen as today health care system is focusing on wellness rather than illness to be make cost effective.
Dr. Sandeep Puri, Principal DMCH Medical College, Ludhiana said there is need of much preparation for next decade of nursing practice must be done without the benefit of certainty.
Dr. Triza Jiwan shared that health requirements are undergoing complex changes at national, inter-national & global level. These challenges make it imperative to strengthen the health care workforce specially Nurse Practitioners.
The highlights of evening were cultural programme which was jeweled with Giddha, Western Dance & guest items of Jammu Kashmir state dance by students of nursing followed by banquet dinner..
On Friday sessions held onNutritional Health & Use of IT Surveillance, Nurse Practitioner and mental harmony and contributions of Nurse Practitioner in health and wellness which were chaired byDr. Sushma K Saini, Prof. Harjinder Kaur,Dr.Triza Jiwan, Prof. Raj Kumari, Dr. Rama Taneja, Mr. Ajit Desh Panday.
The Valedictory address was delivered by Dr. Triza Jiwan and Prof. Mrs. Sandeep Kaur DMCH, CON, Ludhiana. Mrs. Amninder Kaur delivered the vote of thanks.
With such inspirational, informative and interactive sessions, the two day conference came to an end, raising too many questions and challenges that may impact health care, especially in India. It also gave answers to many existing issues through the numerous innovations that were presented. The generic thought which probably each one of us had was an affordable and accessibility of good health care. For the delegates it was a fiercing experience as they heard well known dignitaries from the field of nursing & medical sciences ho shared their knowledge and thoughts.


ECTOPIA-2020 started with colourful performances

Three-day cultural festival ‘ECTOPIA 2020’ began today with an impressive inaugural ceremony by Secretary of DMCH Managing Society-Sh Prem Kumar Gupta. Also present on the occasion were Principal Dr Sandeep Puri, Dean Academics Dr Rajoo Singh Chhina, Medical Supdt. Dr Ashwani Chaudhary and other faculty members
Secretary Sh Prem Kumar Gupta, in his message, said that Managing Society of DMCH has always been supportive in organizing such types of cultural events and and extracurricular activities for the overall development of medical students studying in DMCH.
Principal Dr Sandeep Puri (who is also Chairperson of DMCH Cultural Committee) said that ‘ECTOPIA’ festival is personally very close to his heart and with every passing year, it is presented in a new form and on different theme, with more exciting and thrilling performances.   
Dr Dinesh Jain (Secretary, DMCH Cultural Committee) and Dr Navjot Bajwa (Convener of DMCH Cultural Committee) extended warm congratulations to all the participants and audience to enjoy this three-day grand  festival with full enthusiasm and excitement. Five different MBBS Batches from year 2015 to2019 will be participating in the event. The theme of ‘ECTOPIA 2020’ this year is ‘Hakuua Matata’ which means “No worries” or “No Problem” and mascot of the three festival ‘Timon & Pumbaa’ was also released

Turn Coat Extempore-which includes a style of debating in which an individual is given a certain amount of time to speak in favour or against a particular topic.
Dance Off- in which students perform thrilling dance performances on hit bollywood and Punjabi song numbers.  
Ad Fads/Stand Up Comedy- In this segment, participants of a particular MBBS batch are given a fixed time to conceptualize an advertisement on any product and present it to the audience in a hilarious manner.
Treasure Hunt- a game in which the players are given a series of clues to direct them to win a hidden prize

Bhog of Shri Akhand Path Sahib at SCD Government College

As part of Centenary Celebrations, students of SCD Government College  organised Shri Akhand Path Sahib, an annual  feature of the college. The Bhog was on 19th Feb, 2020. It was attended by a large number of students who performed Sewa in the form of doing the Path, Kirtan and preparing Guru Ka Langar which was partaken of by all with great fervour.
The occasion was attended by a number of the college's former students. 
Dr. Balwinderpal Singh, retired from Gurusar Sudhar College and currently associated with Guru Gobind Singh Study Circle. He addressed the students and shared his experiences as a student here, he elaborated upon the motto of the college- Dare to be True. He cited excerpts from Gurbani to convey relevant moral precepts to the listeners. Encouraged all to follow on the path shown by the Gurus and to lead a chaste life.
S. Ranjit Singh, retired school Principal and recipient of State Award & Rastriya Award by the President of India. He also addressed the students and proudly showed his college ID card which he had kept safely all these years. He emphasized upon 'dharam' and 'vidya' in our lives.
Prof Kiranjit Kaur Brar, principal Master Tara Singh College, Sh. Naresh Gaur, Senate member,  Madam Amita Bharti from Bharatiya Yog Sansthan, Jasdev Singh Sekhon, joint director, S. Navdeep Singh, director FM Gold and many other personalities attended the Path. 
Principal Dr. Dharam Singh Sandhu also inspired the students to take inspiration from their predecessors and take the college to greater glory and write history. 
On this occasion a turban tying competition under the guidance of Dr. D S Sidhu and a book exhibition was also held in the college. Majinder Singh stood 1st. Rajvir Singh stood 2nd and Maninder Singh stood 3rd.

BVM USN remembers Social Reformer, Second Chief of RSS Guruji Golwalkar on his 109th Jayanti

Fostering the religious sentiments among Bhartiyans BVM USN, celebrated the birth anniversary of Shri Madhav Rao Sadashiv  Golwalkar ji and Chhatrapati Shivaji with extreme zeal and fervor. Mrs Seema Gupta (PGT) threw light on the life sketch of Golwalkar ji popularly known as Guruji, a visionary and second Supreme chief of RSS, who helped it to attain a pre-eminent position. School choir sang a captivating song dedicated to Shri Golwalkar ji and filled the aura with divinity. A short documentary was also screened for the students, highlighting life lessons of Guruji. BVM family paid a floral tribute to Guru ji and Shivaji in the morning assembly.  Principal Bandana Sethi motivated the students to follow the teachings and principles of Guruji an everlasting source of inspiration to accomplish a better place in the society.

CT University holds Agri Enterprise Mela


Ludhiana: CT University, Ludhiana organised a one day Kheti Uddam Mela (Agri Enterprise Fair) where the Chief Guest remained IPS Vivek Sheel Soni, SSP Jagraon. He inaugurated the event in presence of Charanjit Singh Channi, Chancellor, CTU; Manbir Singh, Managing Director; Dr Harsh Sadawarti, Vice Chancellor; Dr Jagtar Singh Dhiman, Registrar; Dr Pushpinder Singh Aulakh, Head Of School Agriculture and Natural Sciences along with various farmers across Punjab.
The Mela showcased farm technologies and stalls with a focus on enhancing farmers’ income through agripreneurship ventures and subsidiary occupations such as beekeeping, mushroom growing, jaggery making, nursery production, dairy farming, etc.  Also it had stalls by women-run SHGs showcasing the processed farm products such as pickles, jams, squashes, murrabas, spices and condiments, etc. Moreover, there were stalls of farm machinery, seeds, pesticides equipment, fertilizers and agricultural inputs. The University Departments and the line Department of Agriculture and Horticulture, Punjab also demonstrated their technologies and farming welfare schemes. 
Besides this, the experts shared tips for scientific farming with the participants and suggest how the farm income could be augmented.
Around 10 farmers, across Punjab, who saved water, said no to paddy straw burning adopted crop diversification, followed organic production techniques and augmented farm incomes through subsidiary occupations were honoured on the occasion. The list included names like Gurpreet Singh from village Roday, Darshan Singh from Veroke, Jaideep Singh from Sadda Singh Wala, Gurpreet Singh Shergill from Patiala, Harmandeep Singh from Kokri Kalan etc.
Chief Guest IPS Vivek Sheel Soni, SSP Jagraon appreciated the efforts of organising such event that provided a wonderful platform to nearby farmers to showcase their ideas and businesses.
Charanjit Singh Channi, Chancellor, said, “Farmers are bread earners for Punjab. They are living idols of Nation and are most hardworking around the world & always working hard for their crops, during day and night. Indeed, for a break, such Melas are important where diversity in farming is showcased at one place and also, students are acquainted with farming techniques.”

100 units of blood donated to mark 100 years of SCD Government College


In compliance with  Government of Punjab's order, SCD Government  College, Ludhiana organised a Blood  donation camp on 18th February, 2020 to commemorate 550th birth  anniversary of Shri Guru Nanak Dev ji. 
The camp also formed  a part of the Centenary Celebrations of the College. 
Dr Kunal Jain from DMC supervised the camp. His team from DMC was assisted by the college NSS volunteers under the leadership of Prof Sumeet Brar and Professor Deepak Chopra. The NSS volunteers coordinated the donors who came forward with great enthusiasm. Prof. Reetinder Joshi also donated blood. A total of 100+ units were donated. 
Simultaneously, College also organised a lecture on “Health issues in young women”. 
Dr. Kanupriya Jain, Associate Professor of Gynecology, Dr. Kunal Jain, Dr. Avnish Jain, and Mrs. Geetika Jain associated with cancer awareness program from Dayanand Medical College & Hospital, , Ludhiana were invited for the talk. 
Dr. Kunal Jain addressed the students about  reasons and early detection of cancer in patients in Punjab. He also enlightened the students regarding precautionary steps to be taken including proper  diet in order to prevent the spread of cancer. 
Dr. Kanupriya talked about various health problems faced by young girls and the solutions to these problems. She emphasized on mental  stress, lack of exercise, poor diet, over weight and hesitancy in seeking medical help as reasons behind these diseases in young girls. She also encouraged the students to change their unhealthy lifestyle and emphasized upon the need for regular check up to avoid health related problems. 
The Principal, Dr. Dharam Singh Sandhu thanked the resource  persons and encouraged the students to be vigilant about their health. He encouraged the faculty of the college to organize such extension lectures in the college  and generate awareness about overall well-being. Dr. Sandhu also thanked Prof. Bhupinder for organising the lecture.


आर्य कॉलेज गर्ल्ज़ सेक्शन में लगायी गयी माडल्ज़ की प्रदर्शनी

लुधियाना: स्थानीय आर्य कॉलेज गर्ल्ज़ सेक्शन में अर्थ शास्त्र विभाग की छात्राओं ने माडल्ज़ की प्रदर्शनी लगायी जिसमें बी. ए॰ तृतीय वर्ष की 19 छात्राओं ने हिस्सा लिया । छात्राओं ने “ इंडियन इकॉनमी” थीम पर अपने माडल्ज़ प्रस्तुत किए । इस प्रदर्शनी में छात्राओं ने पूरे उत्साह से भाग लिया l छात्राओं ने “ग्रीन रेवलूशन”, “एग्रो बेस्ड इंडस्ट्रीज़”, “डिजिटल इंडिया”, “इंडियन बैंकिंग सिस्टम”, “ओर्गानिक फ़ार्मिंग”, इत्यादि विषयों से सम्बंधित माडल्ज़ की प्रस्तुति की। प्रिं. डॉ. सविता उप्पल और इंचार्ज गर्ल्ज़ सेक्शन श्रीमती सक्षम आहलूवालिया जी ने छात्राओं के इन प्रयासों की सराहना की और अग्रिम इसी भाँति परिश्रम करने के लिए प्रेरित भी किया ।

CT University to hold Agri Enterprise Mela on Feb 19

International Childhood Cancer day observed


Department of Pediatrics, DMCH observed International Childhood Cancer Day in Dumra Auditorium. The function was presided over by the chief guest- Sh Prem Kumar Gupta (Secretary, DMCH Managing Society) along with Smt Sunila Gupta. Medical Supdts. Dr Ashwani Chaudhary, Dr Sandeep Sharma, Dr Puneet Aulakh Pooni (Professor & Head of Pedaitrics) and other faculty members also attended the event.
Dr Shruti Kakkar (Assistant Professor, Pediatrics and In-charge, Pediatric Hematology Oncology, DMCH) extended warm welcome to all the cancer survivor children and their parents present on the occasion. The children presently undergoing treatment for cancer were also  invited to get inspired from those who have already fought this dreaded disease. In her address to the audience, Dr Shruti Kakkar said that Childhood Cancer is curable if detected early. The Managing Society of DMCH has always been supportive in providing quality treatment to cancer children at highly subsidized cost. Nearly 50 survivors participated in the programme and shared their experiences with all and advised everyone to seek early help if there are any danger signs.
Mrs Rama Munjal, President of Arpita Cancer Society, was felicitated on the occasion for the contribution of her society in treating cancer affected children along with Dr Praveen C. Sobti, the founder of Pediatric Oncology Unit at DMCH During the programme, the children suffering from cancer presented well choreographed dance performances, which enthralled the audience. Many survivors also gave performances. The nurses and paramedical staff of Pediatrics Oncology ward were also facilitated and they were also given honour of awarding all the children with momentoes and certificates.

CTU’s Jatin and Tanishq bags the title of Mr & Miss Valentines

Ludhiana: CT University’s School of Design and Innovation organised a pageant ‘Glam and Grace’ on the occasion of Valentine’s Day. Staff and students were dressed up in theme black, red and white and participated in a Fashion Show.
The judges for the fashion show were Raman Singh from Ambala, a Fitness Manager and Fashion Model who was the winner of 2018 Exotic Model along with Anmol Sharma, Assistant Professor and an Event Organiser.
The title for Ms Valentines was bagged by Tanishq from School of Design and Innovation with Mr Valentines Jatin Sharma from School of Humanities.
The other titles announced were Harshini from School of Design and Innovation and Rishav Verma from School of Pharmaceuticals and Healthcare Sciences as Ms and Mr Confident respectively. Aatma Sahni from School of Design and Innovation and Parmpreet Singh from School of Hotel Management, Airlines and Tourism were Ms and Mr Best Dressed respectively.
