CT University marks Int’l Women’s Day by honouring 20 empowered women

Ludhiana: CT University organised ‘International Women’s Day’ with the theme #CTUEmpowersHer, honouring various females excelling in their domains. The event was graced by 20 renowned ladies where the Chief Guest remained Flying Officer, Rupika Dhillon (Retd; a pilot in the Indian Air Force) and Guest of Honour Preeti Sukhija, CJM cum Secretary, District Legal Services Authority, Ludhiana. These women were honoured by CT University Chancellor Charanjit S Channi and Co-Chairperson Parminder Kaur Channi.

Welcoming the guests, Dr Harsh Sadawarti, Vice Chancellor said, “Now, women aren’t weak, men are! Women are courageous, bold and beautiful. Even team CTU is blessed to have empowered women. Each of them is unique and special. Going shoulder to shoulder with men is true empowerment. Let us all celebrate her every day.”

Thereafter, all the women were a part of panel discussion on the topic ‘Role of Social Media in Women Empowerment’. The panellists were Nazuk Shyam Puri, a blend of an experienced businesswoman, a recipient of ELITE Mrs. India 2018; Dr Puneet Amandeep Singh Sohi

Chief Guest Rupika Dhillon said, “Over the period of time, I have realised and now believe in a few lessons of life for women empowerment that includes Accept a girl child wholeheartedly, gender must not effect happiness; never ‘stop’ girls, encourage them to dream and believe; parents must push their girl child further to their dreams; do not just ‘help’ a person, ‘teach’ them because help may vanish, learned teaching will last forever; gain the control of your life. Also, women empowerment must be taught to men! Teach your male child every aspect of life.”

Thanking the audience, Co-Chairperson Parminder Kaur Channi wished everyone a very Happy Women’s Day and motivated all to do their best in life.  

Women Cardiac Care (WCC)-2020 to be held

In view of forthcoming ‘International Women Day’, Hero DMC Heart Institute in collaboration with Women in Cardiology and related sciences(WINCARS) will be organizing ‘Women Cardiac Care’ conference on 7^th & 8^th March, 2020 in Auditorium of DMC College Campus.

Secretary Sh Prem Kumar Gupta lauded the efforts of Department of Cardiology in organizing the conference. Vice-Principal and Chief Cardiologist-Dr GS Wander along with his fellow colleagues Dr Bishav Mohan and Dr Naved Aslam acknowledged the tremendous response of participating delegates in attending the conference.    

According to Organizing Secretary-Dr Shibba Takkar Chhabra (Professor of Cardiology, HDHI), the conference will be first of its kind in the region where renowned national faculty (in the field of Cardiology) from various medical colleges of the country, will address the participating delegates about issues related to women heart, which is usually ignored by females as well as the treating physicians.

For building a healthy nation, maintaining good health of women is extremely essential, says Dr Shibba Takkar Chhabra and Dr Mohanjit Kaur, Co-organizing Secretary.

During the conference, a book ‘Oorja’ focusing on management of medical ailments in women will be released. The book written by leading physicians (specialists & superspecialists)  will enlighten the readers about various ailments and their management  in women, which are usually not properly presented in medical research trials. 

हिन्दी विभाग के विद्यार्थियों ने विश्वविद्यालय परीक्षा में अपना परचम लहराया

स्नातकोत्तर हिन्दी विभाग एवं शोध-केन्द्र,सतीश चन्द्र धवन राजकीय महाविद्यालय, लुधियाना के एम.ए. हिन्दी तृतीय सेमेस्टर के चार विद्यार्थियों ने पंजाब विश्वविद्यालय में अपना स्थान पक्का करते हुए विभाग की परम्परा को कायम रखा । विश्वविद्यालय द्वारा जारी टाॅपर

सूची में विभाग के इन विद्यार्थियों ने क्रमशः विश्वविद्यालय में संयुक्त तीसरा स्थान पाने वाली छात्रा आशा 400 में से 331(82.75%), चौथा स्थान संयुक्त रूप से याचना व अनु के 329 (82.25%), तथा आठवां स्थान पाने वाली छात्रा मनीषा 317(79.25%) अंक हासिल किए ।हिन्दी विभाग के इस परिणाम से समूचे महाविद्यालय में खुशी की लहर है । विभाग में दस विद्यार्थी ऐसे रहे जिनके 75% से ऊपर अंक रहे तथा 45  विद्यार्थियों के अंक प्रथम श्रेणी(60% से अधिक) में रहे। विभाग द्वारा सभी विद्यार्थियों और प्राध्यापकों को मिठाई खिलाकर खुशियां बांटी गई।महाविद्यालय के प्राचार्य डाॅ. धर्म सिंह संधू ने विद्यार्थियों को आर्शीवाद देते हुए इस शानदार परिणाम हेतु हिन्दी विभाग को बधाई दी और कहा कि हर सेमेस्टर की भान्ति विद्यार्थियों ने इस सेमेस्टर में भी केवल हिन्दी विभाग का ही नहीं अपितु सम्पूर्ण महाविद्यालय का नाम रोशन किया है।  विभागाध्यक्ष प्रो. (डॉ.) अश्वनी भल्ला ने अपनी विद्यार्थियों की सफलता का सारा श्रेय उनकी मेहनत और साधना को दिया।उन्होंने कहा कि विभाग के सभी प्राध्यापक परस्पर सहयोग के साथ विद्यार्थियों का मार्गदर्शन करते हैं जिसका परिणाम आज हमारे सामने है।  पूर्व विभागाध्यक्ष डाॅ. मुकेश अरोड़ा(सीनेट मेम्बर,पंजाब विश्वविद्यालय,चंडीगढ़) इस अवसर पर विशेष रूप से उपस्थित रहे और आर्शीवाद देते हुए कहा कि विद्यार्थियों की लगन और अध्ययनशीलता के परिणाम स्वरूप ही ऐसे परिणाम उभर कर सामने आते है और साथ में कहा कि उन्हें खुशी है कि विभाग के विद्यार्थी ईमानदारी से मेहनत करते हुए, विश्वविद्यालय स्तर पर सिर्फ अपना ही नहीं वरन अपने अभिभावक, महाविद्यालय, शहर का नाम रौशन कर रहे हैं। विभाग के अन्य प्रध्यापाक डाॅ.मोनिका जैन, डाॅ.सौरभ , प्रो.सोनदीप, प्रो.इंदरजीत पासवान ने भी विद्यार्थियों की सराहना करते हुए कहा कि विद्यार्थियों पर विभाग को गर्व है और साथ यह कहा कि हमें खुशी है कि विभाग ने अपनी परंपरा और वर्चस्व को कायम रखा ।

एस.सी.डी. सरकारी महाविद्यालय में बाज़ार मेला का भव्य आयोजन

सतीश चन्द्र धवन सरकारी महाविद्यालय, लुधियाना में एक दिवसीय बाज़ार मेला का आयोजन किया गया। महाविद्यालय परिसर में इस मेले का भव्य आयोजन महाविद्यालय के "फिनिशिंग स्कूल" विभाग द्वारा करवाया गया। प्रोफेसर रीतिन्दर जोशी(संयोजिका, फिनिशिंग स्कूल) के कुशल निर्देशन में महाविद्यालय के लगभग 200 विद्यार्थियों ने 70 दुकानें लगाकर इस मेला को सफल बनाया। 

विद्यार्थियों में बाज़ार की रुचि को समझने व अपने उत्पाद्य को ग्राहक तक पहुंचाने की कला में विकास के उद्देश्य से फिनिशिंग स्कूल की ओर से मेला का आयोजन किया जाता रहा है।

महाविद्यालय के प्राचार्य डॉ. धर्म सिंह संधू ने मेले की सफलता के लिए फिनिशिंग स्कूल से सम्बंधित सभी प्राध्यापकों व विद्यार्थियों को बधाई दी। उन्होंने कहा कि इस प्रकार के आयोजन से विद्यार्थी बाज़ार की मांग को समझकर ऐसे उत्पादों का उत्पादन कर सकते हैं जिससे लाभ हो सके। उन्होंने कहा कि महज कुछ घंटों में बाज़ार लगाकर अपने उत्पादों की ओर ग्राहकों को आकर्षित करना एक कला है। यह कला जहां विद्यार्थियों में व्यावहारिक गुणों का विकास करती है वहीं समय प्रबंधन के साथ-साथ संगठनात्मक गुणों की अभिवृद्धि करती है।

इस बाज़ार मेला के मुख्य अतिथि श्री संजय गोयल(लेक्मी) और विशिष्ट अतिथि श्री राहुल आहूजा(निदेशक सी. आई. आई. कंफेडरेशन ऑफ इंडिया इंडस्ट्रीज़) रहे। 

प्रोफेसर रीतिन्दर जोशी ने महाविद्यालय के शताब्दी वर्ष पर भव्य बाज़ार मेला के आयोजन पर अपनी खुशी प्रकट की और कहा कि आज के विद्यार्थियों में प्रतिभा कूट-कूटकर भरी हुई है, आवश्यकता उन प्रतिभाओं को तलाश कर उसे निखारने की है। इसके लिए हमें अपने विद्यार्थियों पर विश्वास करना होगा और उन्हें यथोचित अवसर देना होगा, तभी विद्यार्थियों में आत्मविश्वास जागृत होगा। यही आत्मनिर्भर विद्यार्थी जब शिक्षा प्राप्त कर समाज में जाएंगे तब ये सिर्फ अपने परिवार के लिए ही नहीं बल्कि समाज व देश के विकास के लिए एक मजबूत आधारशिला रखेंगे। निस्संदेह आज हमारे देश को ऐसे ही एंटरप्रेन्योर की आवश्यकता है जो रोजगार पाने की अंधी दौड़ में शामिल न होकर, रोजगार देने की क्षमता रखें। उन्होंने बताया कि इसी उद्देश्य से महाविद्यालय के फिनिशिंग स्कूल द्वारा सन 2016 में पहली बार इस प्रकार के मेला का आयोजन किया गया था। इसके बाद गत वर्ष 2019 में भी इसका आयोजन करवाया गया। पिछले दोनों सत्रों की सफलता को ध्यान में रखकर इस बार का मेला पूर्व से अधिक भव्य व आकर्षक बनाया गया। 

दिलचस्प बात यह रहा कि इस मेले में ग्राहक और दुकानदार दोनों ही महाविद्यालय के विद्यार्थी रहे तथा खरीद-बिक्री के लिए पैसे की नहीं बल्कि कूपन की आवश्यकता थी जो 'मेला कार्यालय' से ली जा सकती थी।

इस बाज़ार मेला में कम-से-कम लागत में बेहतर सेवा प्रदान करते हुए अधिक लाभ कमाने की स्वस्थ प्रतिस्पर्धा देखते ही बनी। यहां विशेष उल्लेखनीय है कि प्रायः जहां मेले वाले स्थान पर कचरा फैला होता है वहीं इस मेला में विद्यार्थियों ने कचरा प्रबंधन के व्यावहारिक गुड़ भी सीखे क्योंकि यह जिम्मेदारी दुकान लगाने वालों को ही दी गयी थी। आयोजक की ओर से मेले में प्लास्टिक का प्रयोग वर्जित था।

Toppr conducts pool campus placement drive at CT University

Ludhiana:  Toppr Technologies, India’s leading ed-tech company with a mission to Make Learning Personalized conducted a pool ampus placement drive at CT University for graduates and post graduate 2020 passing out students. It is an adaptive platform to increase engagement, optimize learning and improve outcomes for all students 179 students from various colleges and universities of Punjab namely PCTE Baddowal, Guru Nanak Dev University, Jalandhar, NIT Jalandhar, UBS Chandigarh, Baba Farid Group of Institutions, DAV University and CT Group of Institutions, Shahpur participated.

The post will provide the salary package of up to Rs. 10 Lakh per annum.

Shashank Vikram Singh, official from the company said, “This platform is the need of the hour, thus have to reach the society. The interview comprised with two parts of group discussion and personal interview. The performance and approach of students is quite appreciable.”

Dr. Harsh Sadawarti, Vice Chancellor, CTU said that University is known for industry driven campus to make students ‘industry ready’ and creating various platforms for students. He further congratulated all the students who participated in this drive and wished luck to the shortlisted candidates.

CME & Workshop on The Essentials of Mechanical ventilation

Ludhiana Society of Anesthesiologists, a city branch of the National Body of Indian Society of Anesthesiologists organized a CME & Workshop on The Essentials of Mechanical ventilation on 1^st March 2020 at IMA Hall, Ludhiana. The CME had an overwhelming response and was attended by approximately 110 practicing anesthesiologists of the city and surrounding areas including postgraduate students.

The idea behind the CME was to impart training in the nuances of ventilatory support to the budding anesthesiologists and to the refresh the knowledge of practicing intensive care physicians and anesthetists regarding the treatment of various causes of respiratory failure like chronic obstructive lung disease, asthma, lung damage due to infections like swine flu or corona virus there by  providing better and state of the art  care to critically ill patients on ventilator support. The knowledge of recent concept of noninvasive ventilation was also imparted to the participants by the eminent critical care faculty from Ludhiana, and Chandigarh.

A poster cum free paper session was also organized for the benefit of postgraduate students and prizes were awarded for the best three posters.

The CME was inaugurated in the presence of various office bearers of LSA namely Dr Gaurav Kuthiala , president and organizing secretary ; Dr Neeru Luthra, secretary ; Dr Kamakshi ,treasurer and Dr Dinesh Sood , organizing chairperson.

The occasion was graced by Dr Manoj K Sobti, member Punjab Medical Council and Dr Sunil Katyal, President IMA Ludhiana , who was also the guest of honour.

CME on ‘The Fundamentals of Dynamic Psychotherapy’ held

Department of Psychiatry organized a two-day CME on ‘The Fundamentals of Dynamic Psychotherapy’ in Auditorium of DMC College Campus. The CME was conducted by renowned psychiatrist from Jefferson Medical College, USA-Dr Salman Akhtar, who has many academic achievements to his credit in the field of Psychiatry.

Secretary of DMCH Managing Society-Sh Prem Kumar Gupta formally inaugurated CME alongwith Principal Dr Sandeep Puri, Medical Supdt Dr Ashawani Chaudhary, Dr Ranjive Mahajan (Professor & Head of Psychiatry,DMCH), Dr Navkiran Mahajan (Professor of Psychiatry, DMCH). Also present on the occasion were other faculty members from the Department of Psychiatry including Dr Rupesh Chaudhary, Dr Pankaj Kumar and Dr Mitthat Miglani.   

Course Director-Dr Ranjive Mahajan extended warm welcome to the dignitaries and delegates present on the occasion. In his address, Dr Mahajan said concept of ‘Dynamic Psychotherapy’ is a very old one  but with time and in present times, there is renewed enthusiasm for this discipline among the practicing psychiatrists. The aim of conducting the conference is  to educate the participating delegates about various fundamental aspects of ‘Dynamic Psychotherapy’

In his address, Dr Akhtar said Psychodynamic therapy is the psychological interpretation of mental and emotional processes. It aims to address the factors responsible for developing psychological problems in the individuals and seeks to reduce the symptoms and improve people’s lives. In psychodynamic therapy, therapists help people gain insight into their lives and present-day problems. They also evaluate patterns people develop over time.

Dr Akhtar stressed that early childhood development has a long lasting impact on later life of an individual in terms of his behavior, habits and personality traits  Understanding the period of early development right from birth of a child is very essential to understand the personality and behavior of any individual in his/her later years and role of mother in shaping up the overall personality of a person can never be undermined, said Dr Akhtar.
