Women Cardiac Care (WCC) Conference held

Hero DMC Heart Institute in collaboration with Women in Cardiology and related sciences (WINCARS) today organized two-day ‘Women Cardiac Care’ conference in Auditorium of DMC College Campus.
The conference was for formally inaugurated by the chief guest-Dr MK Dass, (President, Cardiological Society of India) along with Guest of Honour- Secretary of DMCH Managing Society-Sh Prem Kumar Gupta. Also present on the occasion were Principal Dr Sandeep Puri, Vice-Principal Dr GS Wander, Dr Karamvir Goyal (Member, Punjab Medical Council) and Dr Madhury Jyotsna (General Secretary, WINCAR), Organizing Secretary- Dr Shibba Takkar Chhabra and Co-organizing Secretary-Dr Mohanjit kaur
Addressing the delegates, the chief guest lauded the effort of organizers in conducting the conference of repute, focusing on women cardiac care and other health issues. He said that focusing on better women health care results in overall progress and growth of nation.    
Organizing Secretary-Dr Shibba Takkar Chhabra announced the inauguration of book ‘Oorja’ focusing on management of medical ailments in women was released by dignitaries present on the occasion. The book written by leading physicians (specialists & superspecilaists) will enlighten the readers about various ailments and their management  in women, which are usually not properly presented in medical research trials.  
The first day of the conference began with ‘Webcast’ on Machine learning for health care by J Saketha Nath from Hyderabad followed by a highly elaborative scientific sessions on different topics by Dr IB Vijayalakshmi from Banglaore, Dr Jyotsna Maddury from Hyderabad, Dr Lekha Pathak from Mumbai and Dr Aarti Lalchandani from Kanpur.
Others distinguished guest speakers who spoke on different topics include Dr Roopa Salwan, Dr Mona Bhatia, Prof Anita Saxena from AIIMS, New Delhi and many other leading female cardiologists from different medical colleges and institutes of the country.
Co-organizing Secretary-Dr Mohanjit Kaur proposed a vote of thanks to all the dignitaries, distinguished guest speakers and enthusiastic participating delegates.

International students of CT University marks Holi with dry colors


Ludhiana: Students of CT Group celebrated the festival of colors with great fervor. On this occasion, the international students from different countries like Zambia, Malawi and other African countries celebrated Holi with dry colors.
One of the international students named Lilian Catherine, a student of B. Pharmacy said, “I am playing this festival for the first time in my life. It’s so much of fun. Using of dry colors and applying on each other is a different style of celebrating here in India.”
CT University Vice Chancellor Dr. Harsh Sadawarti wished everyone a safe Holi and appealed to mark it by applying just dry colors and not to waste water.

Three-day ELNEC workshop held


Dayanand Medical College & Hospital (DMCH) is organizing a three-day End-of-Life Nursing Education Consortium (ELNEC) workshop from 6th to 8th March, 2020 in Medical Seminar Room, focusing on palliative care.
The course provides nurses with education in palliative care and preparing them to teach about improved ways of providing palliative care to the patients with end-stage diseases and also helping out their family members of such patients with terminal illness.
Inaugurating the workshop, Principal Dr Sandeep Puri along with Medical Supdt. Dr Ashwani Chaudhary said that such nursing education programmes are very essential to update the knowledge and skill of nurses, which form backbone of the institution.
Nursing Supdt-Ms. Sunita Dev extended warm welcome to the dignitaries and guest speakers. In her message, Mrs Dev said that role of Palliative Care Nurses has increased manifold due to rising incidences of cancer in the society.
Ms Halife MacGamwell, a renowned Oncology & Palliative Care Nurse specialist, is the chief instructor for the workshop. Other
instructors include Nursing faculty from AIIMS, New Delhi & Jodhpur Dr Kunaal Jain (Assistant Professor, Medical Oncology) proposed a vote of thanks to all those present on the occasion and said that Palliative Care Nurses play a very important role in reducing suffering and improving the quality of those who are in end-stage disease.
Dr Vivek Gupta from Department of Cardiac Anesthesia and Dr M Rupinder Kaur from Department of Anaesthesia said that such training in workshop also involves psychosocial, spiritual and emotional aspects of patient care.

एस. सी. डी. सरकारी कॉलेज में साहिर लुधियानवी पर केंद्रित डॉक्यूमेंट्री-फ़िल्म दिखाई गई

सतीश चन्द्र धवन राजकीय महाविद्यालय, लुधियाना में शताब्दी समारोह की कड़ी में आज साहिर लुधियानवी के जीवन पर आधारित डॉक्यूमेंट्री दिखाई गई। आज के इस कार्यक्रम में मुख्य अतिथि की भूमिका में श्री राजेश बादल, श्री केवल धीर(विशिष्ट अतिथि), श्री ललित बेरी(विशिष्ट-अतिथि) पधारे।  महाविद्यालय के प्राचार्य डॉ. धर्म सिंह संधू ने आज के मुख्य अतिथि , विशिष्ट अतिथि व शहर के गणमान्यजन का स्वागत किया।  मुख्य-अतिथि का परिचय कराते हुए डॉ. संधू ने बताया कि श्री राजेश बादल का भारतीय पत्रकारिता के क्षेत्र में  बहुत बड़ा योगदान है। वे एक साथ फिल्मकार, प्रोड्यूसर, टीवी एंकर, आकाशवाणी उद्घोषक रहे हैं।  43 वर्षों से पत्रकारिता में वे सक्रीय रहे जिसमें 5000 से अधिक आलेख का प्रकाशन हो चुका है, 1000 से अधिक टेलीविजन प्रोग्राम कर चुके हैं, 100 से अधिक डॉक्यूमेंट्री-फ़िल्म का निर्माण कर चुके हैं। देश के प्रमुख समाचार चैनल के प्रमुख संवाददाता व कई चैनल के विशेष संवाददाता के रूप में देश भर में श्री बादल देश भर में लोकप्रिय रहे हैं। राज्य-सभा टीवी के पिछले एक दशक से कार्यकारी संपादक राजेश बादल जी को अमेरिकी सरकार द्वारा इन्हें यात्रा पर आमंत्रित किया गया और इस  यात्रा में इन्होंने अमेरिका के कई शहरों का विशेष कवरेज़ किया।
भारत में आये प्राकृतिक आपदा जैसे सुनामी व नेपाल में आये भूकंप की इन्होंने विशेष कवरेज़ की।
विज्ञान पत्रिकारिता में भी इनकी भागीदारी रही है और अब तक
आधे दर्जन से अधिक पुस्तकों का प्रकाशन हो चुका है। पत्रकारिता के क्षेत्र में इनके योगदान को देखकर भारत सरकार द्वारा
"माखन लाल चतुर्वेदी राष्ट्रीय पत्रकारिता पुरस्कार" व 
"महात्मा गांधी अंतर्राष्ट्रीय पुरस्कार" प्रदान किया गया। प्राचार्य ने कहा कि राजेश बादल इस देश की विभूति हैं, जिनका महाविद्यालय के प्रांगण में आना हमारे लिए गर्व का क्षण है।
डॉ. केवल धीर(विशिष्ट अतिथि) का परिचय देते हुए देते हुए डॉ. संधू ने बताया कि डॉ. धीर पिछले पांच दशक से साहिर के साहित्यिक योगदान व उर्दू शायरी के प्रति समर्पित हैं। डॉ. धीर एक प्रतिबद्ध साहित्यकार हैं जिन्होंने लुधियाना में राष्ट्रीय-अंतरराष्ट्रीय स्तर का कवि सम्मेलन व मुशायरा करवाया है। डॉ. संधू ने  श्री ललित बेरी(विशिष्ट-अतिथि) का स्वागत करते हुए कहा कि समय समय पर महाविद्यालय को इनका योगदान मिलता रहता है। डॉ. संधू ने कहा कि महाविद्यालय के 100 वर्ष पूरे होने की खुशी में इस वर्ष चार-दिवसीय साहित्यिक कार्यक्रम का आयोजन किया गया जो अपने पुराने विद्यार्थी *साहिर लुधियानवी* को समर्पित है। इसी कड़ी में आज श्री राजेश बादल का विस्तार भाषण व साहिर पर केंद्रित फ़िल्म दिखाया गया।
मुख्य अतिथि श्री बादल ने अपने संबोधन में कहा कि आज उनके लिए बड़े हर्ष का विषय है कि साहिर के महाविद्यालय में उन्हें आने का मौका मिला है। उन्होंने कहा कि आज से 10 वर्ष पूर्व वे इस महाविद्यालय परिसर में आ चुके हैं जब वे राज्य सभा टीवी के लिए साहिर के जीवन पर आधारित डॉक्यूमेंट्री-फ़िल्म बना रहे थे। आज उसी फ़िल्म का प्रस्तुति के लिए वे आये हैं। उन्होए कहा कि जब भी जीवन में उन्हें कोई समस्या आती है, वे साहिर को पढ़ते हैं। साहिर का साहित्य हर बार उनमें नई चेतना प्रवाहित करती है। उन्होंने कहा कि 'हम सब के अंदर साहिर बसता है' आवश्यक उसे महसूस करने की है। राजेश बादल के अनुसार *आज जहां देश में मुल्क और मजहब में श्रेष्ठ क्या है, इस प्रश्न में लोग उलझे हुए हैं, साहिर ने मुल्क और मजहब इन दोनों से बड़ा इंसानियत को माना है। इस दृष्टि से साहिर हमें व्यापक दृष्टिकोण प्रदान करता है।* उन्होंने साहिर की पंक्तियों को उद्धरित करते हुए, साहिर की प्रासंगिकता का बखान किया। इस अवसर पर डॉ. केवल धीर, डॉ. अश्वनी भल्ला ने भी अपने विचार रखे। तदोपरान्त *साहिर के जीवन पर केंद्रित डॉक्यूमेंट्री-फ़िल्म* दिखाई गई। अपने महाविद्यालय के विश्वप्रसिद्ध शायर-गीतकार के जीवन को फ़िल्म के माध्यम से देखकर महाविद्यालय के विद्यार्थी रोमांचित हो उठे। कार्यक्रम के उपरांत विद्यार्थियों ने अपनी प्रतिक्रिया देते हुए कहा कि यहां दाखिला लेते वक्त उन्हें इस बात का अंदाज़ा नहीं था कि इस मिट्टी में साहिर जैसा व्यक्तित्व पला है, आज उन्हें इस बात पर गर्व है कि वे साहिर के महाविद्यालय में पढ़ रहे हैं।

PEDA organized training on MuDSM at MC, Ludhiana


Ludhiana, Punjab Energy Development Agency (PEDA) in association with Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE) under the aegis of Ministry of Power, GOI organized a training on Municipal Demand Side Management (MuDSM) at the office of Municipal Corporation, Ludhiana which was well attended by officials of Urban Local Bodies, MCs, PWDs, improvement trust and DISCOM.
The Municipal Demand Side Management (Mu-DSM) scheme of BEE was initiated during XI plan. BEE has identified the immense energy-saving potential in the municipal sector. The basic objective of the project was to improve the overall energy efficiency of the ULBs, UDDs, MCs, PWDs etc which could lead to substantial savings in the electricity consumption, thereby resulting in cost reduction/savings for the ULBs. This training will be conducted at Amritsar, Jalandhar, Patiala and Ludhiana in next one month.
Kulpreet Singh (PCS), Joint Commissioner, Municipal Corporation Ludhiana was the chief guest on the occasion who addressed the participants about the need for energy conservation in street lighting, water pumping and sewage treatment.
Anupam Nanda, Joint Director, PEDA and Sushil Malhotra, Senior Manager, PEDA were the guest of honour at the event. They also motivated the participant to improve the energy efficiency and water efficiency in the Municipal Demand side.
Trainer of the sessions RN Vaishnava briefed upon lndoor lighting, outdoor lighting, and street lighting energy conservation, Water Pumping Technology, Sewage Garbage disposal technology, Intervention of renewable energy sources, electrical vehicle, BEE star rated fan, Motors and smart city initiative.

CT University marks Int’l Women’s Day by honouring 20 empowered women

Ludhiana: CT University organised ‘International Women’s Day’ with the theme #CTUEmpowersHer, honouring various females excelling in their domains. The event was graced by 20 renowned ladies where the Chief Guest remained Flying Officer, Rupika Dhillon (Retd; a pilot in the Indian Air Force) and Guest of Honour Preeti Sukhija, CJM cum Secretary, District Legal Services Authority, Ludhiana. These women were honoured by CT University Chancellor Charanjit S Channi and Co-Chairperson Parminder Kaur Channi.
Welcoming the guests, Dr Harsh Sadawarti, Vice Chancellor said, “Now, women aren’t weak, men are! Women are courageous, bold and beautiful. Even team CTU is blessed to have empowered women. Each of them is unique and special. Going shoulder to shoulder with men is true empowerment. Let us all celebrate her every day.”

Also, women empowerment must be taught to men! Teach your male child every aspect of life.”
Thanking the audience, Co-Chairperson Parminder Kaur Channi wished everyone a very Happy Women’s Day and motivated all to do their best in life.

In view of forthcoming ‘International Women Day’, Hero DMC Heart Institute in collaboration with Women in Cardiology and related sciences(WINCARS) will be organizing ‘Women Cardiac Care’ conference on 7th & 8th March, 2020 in Auditorium of DMC College Campus.
Secretary Sh Prem Kumar Gupta lauded the efforts of Department of Cardiology in organizing the conference. Vice-Principal and Chief Cardiologist-Dr GS Wander along with his fellow colleagues Dr Bishav Mohan and Dr Naved Aslam acknowledged the tremendous response of participating delegates in attending the conference.    
According to Organizing Secretary-Dr Shibba Takkar Chhabra (Professor of Cardiology, HDHI), the conference will be first of its kind in the region where renowned national faculty (in the field of Cardiology) from various medical colleges of the country, will address the participating delegates about issues related to women heart, which is usually ignored by females as well as the treating physicians.
For building a healthy nation, maintaining good health of women is extremely essential, says Dr Shibba Takkar Chhabra and Dr Mohanjit Kaur, Co-organizing Secretary.
