BVM USN wins Inspire Award


Bhartiya Vidya Mandir Shahid Udham Singh Nagar once again proved its mettle in the scientific field by winning Inspire Award Manak at district level, among 18 models from different schools of 3 districts. Priyansh Patel of class eighth presented his model 'Smart life saviours for Commuters'. He brought the laurels as he prepared the model for safe commuting and Traffic safety. 
Principal Bandana Sethi applauded the efforts of the students and the teachers for their continuous and sincere efforts in the field of science. Management also blessed the students and teachers for their hard work.

CT University marks New Year with Thanksgiving gesture

Ludhiana: Marking the start of New Year 2020, CT University organized a Thanksgiving program titled Abhaar: Hamare CT Parivar Ke Naam at its Shahpur campus.
In this program, all the leaders namely CT University Vice Chancellor Dr Harsh Sadawarti, CT Group Shahpur Campus Director Dr. GS Kalra, Maqsudan Campus Director Dr. Jasdeep Kaur Dhami, CT World School Principal Madhu Sharma and CT Public School Principal Daljeet Rana appreciated the efforts of their respective team members and thanked all of them for their support in imparting quality education to the students.
This was followed by a Thanksgiving gesture by CT University Chancellor Charanjit S Channi, Managing Director Manbir Singh, Tanika Singh and Vice Chairman Harpreet Singh by bowing to the CT staff members and extending gratitude for their continuous and valuable support.
The key attraction of the event remained a comical skit that imparted a lot many meaningful messages to the audience related to the work culture in an organization. The skit revolved around two characters namely Titli Kaur, played by Amrit Kalsi, HOD, Center of Happiness, who is a character with full of doubts and negativity and raises so many doubts regarding an organization and its working before appearing in a job interview. Whereas, the other character named Tota Singh, who is a positive soul clears each and every doubt of Titli Kaur and motivates her to perform well in her interview.
At end, CT University Chancellor Charanjit S Channi motivated the staff members to set and meet new challenges for the coming year and wished them a good luck for 2020.

BVM Scientists emerged winners at Scientific Conclave


Another feather is added to the cap of BVM USN as its scientific model 'Harvesting White Gold for Sustainable Development' was adjudged the best model in "Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Scientific Conclave" held at Chandigarh University. It was organised by Department of Youth Services, Punjab. Priyansh Patel of class VIII along with Suraj and Shubhdeep of class XI clinched the Trophy with prize money of rupees 20,000/-. They gave the solution for water management and sustenance.
The BVM Trust Members and Principal Bandana Sethi congratulated the achievers for their remarkable achievement and acknowledged earnest efforts of their mentors Seema Gupta and Narendra singh Rawat. She wished the team good luck for their future endeavours.

Hero DMC Heart Institute (HDHI) Doc conferred with prestigious award

Dr Vivek Gupta, (Consultant, Cardiac Anaesthesia & Intensive Care, HDHI) is being honored & Awarded “IMA Dr AKN Sinha National Award” by Indian Medical Association under the category “Outstanding & Distinguished Services Award”. This prestigious award of AKN Sinha Institute, the academic wing of Indian Medical Association is given every year for outstanding and distinguished services in the medical field to serve humanity.
Dr Vivek Gupta is being awarded for his significant contribution in CPR training program not only at national level but to SAARC countries as well.  The award will be conferred to him on 28th Dec 2019 in an award function held at 80th Annual Meeting of IMA Central Council (IMA NATCON-2019) in Kolkata.
In his message, Dr Vivek Gupta extended heartfelt thanks to Governing Board of Indian Medical Association (IMA) for recognizing his contribution in spreading the knowledge of CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation). He said besides doctors it is important for every citizen of the country to learn CPR and with the help of IMA & Indian Resuscitation Council, we will organize training at various levels.  He made a special mention of DMCH Managing Society under the guidance of Secretary Sh Prem Kumar Gupta, who has always been equally supportive and actively involved not only in providing best of the quality treatment facilities to the patients undergoing treatment in DMCH & HDHI but encourage & support these training activities for society welfare.
Vice-Principal & Chief Cardiologist, HDHI-Dr GS Wander congratulated Dr Vivek Gupta for receiving this esteemed award. He said CPR training should be encouraged even at school level. He added, in case of cardiac arrest when heart stops working, an early initiation of CPR by family, friend or bystanders in initial few minutes is very crucial to save many lives.  Dr Wander said that Hero DMC Heart Institute has always been in the forefront in providing state-of-art quality care to the patients suffering from cardiac aliments and providing the ultramodern services and facilities to them.
According to Dr Vivek Gupta, Hero DMC Heart Institute (HDHI) also has a unique facility of Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO) which is available in the selected medical centers of India and since its inception in the year 2013 in HDHI, the facility has been quite helpful in saving life of patients suffering from various heart condition (due to poisoning, cardiac arrest, viral infection, major heart attack) and lung condition such as ARDS due to swine flu or other infection. 

Bhartiya Vidya Mandir, Udham Singh Nagar, Shines in ‘National Hackathon, 2019’


The young innovators of Bhartiya Vidya Mandir (USN) Suraj Kumar, Priyansh Patel, Gokul Malik & Tarak Aggarwal made a remarkable victory at the National level at Manipal University, Jaipur in the 'National Hackathon 2019' by winning the second position. They competed with the IIT & B.Tech students from all over India, they made 'Smart Sewage Shooter Robot’ under the category of 'Healthcare'. They received Rs. 75000/- as prize money. They were honoured and felicitated by the honourable Chief Minister of Rajasthan, Ashok Gahlot along with other ministers, Vice Chancellor of Manipal University and a galaxy of scientists from various universities.
It is one of the exceptional achievements of the students and the teachers in the ATL lab who have been regularly tinkering upon the different and new ideas and giving them the shape with their hard work under the guidance of their teachers and they have won various prizes at different time intervals and at the various levels. The Principal applauded the sincere efforts of ATL Coordinator Seema Gupta and the Mentor Narendra Singh Rawat for guiding the students. The school feels proud of the achievements of all the BVM Tinkerers. The constant support and blessings of the Management and Principal Bandana Sethi's motivation keeps the students to tread on the path of innovation.

One-Day Workshop on Research Methodology concluded at UBS, Ludhiana

University Business School, Panjab University Regional Centre, Ludhiana organised a One-Day workshop on “Anatomy of Research Methodology in Social Sciences” for Faculty members and Research Scholars. 45 Faculty Members, Researchers representing various universities and colleges across Punjab participated in the Workshop. The key objective behind organizing this workshop was to enhance the skills of faculty members and researchers to undertake the quality research effectively. Professor Dr. Ravi Inder Singh, Director, University Business School, Panjab University Regional Centre Ludhiana, while delivering the welcome address raised his concerns regarding continuous deterioration in the quality of academic research. Quoting some of his personal experiences as examiner of Ph. D thesis, he emphasized researchers while writing for their Ph.D thesis and research papers need to very much cautious about the quality of work.
Dr. Pushpender Kumar, Assistant Professor, Kirori Mal College, University of Delhi, New Delhi was the resource person for this workshop. He is doctorate from FMS, Delhi university and a Post-Doc from Alliant University, California, USA. Dr Kumar is alumnus (FDP), IIM Ahmedabad and recipient of DAAD Fellowship, Germany & Raman Fellowship, America. During 3 sessions of this one-day workshop, he discussed the various important issues related to research methodology in social sciences. He particularly talked about selection of research topic, construct, variables, proposition development, research questions, research objectives and formulation of research hypotheses etc. All the sessions remained quite interactive as participants raised many of their queries. Event concluded with vote of thanks proposed by Dr. Ashish Saihjpal, Co-ordinator UBS, Ludhiana.

Annual DMC Alumni Meet held with academic feast and nostalgic moments

Annual DMC Alumni Meet ‘Lamhe…the nostalgic imprints’ was held yesterday in Hotel Nirvaana, which was attended by around 300 ex-alumni of DMCH. The day began with a CME programme held in morning in Auditorium of DMC College Campus. Lectures were delivered by Dr KS Banga from USA on ‘Latest Trends in Sports Medicine’ and Dr Aman Dua from Ludhiana spoke on ‘Look Beautiful, Stay Young (Latest ageing)’. A panel discussion was also held on the topic of ‘Medical Profession’ as a Career Option and Level of Stress in the profession. A large gathering of doctors from the city attended CME. After the CME, a round of Medical College and Hospital was taken by the alumni of Golden Jubilee Batch 1969 and Silver Jubilee Batch 1994. The alumni were amazed to see the remarkable developments in Hospital’s infrastructure and ultramodern facilities and services available to the patients of DMCH under one roof.

The highlight of the day was ‘Annual Alumni Meet’ which was held late in the evening in the Hotel Nirvana. The meet was organized by DMC Alumni Committee.
Chairperson of DMC Alumni Committee-Dr Puneet Aulakh Pooni (Professor & Head of Pediatrics, DMCH) extended warm welcome to all the alumni and dignitaries present on the occasion. In her address, Dr Pooni said that there is a need to develop network of all DMC Alumni settled around the worldSecretary of DMCH Managing Society-Sh Prem Kumar Gupta was invited as the chief guest along with other dignitaries including Principal Dr Sandeep Puri, Vice-Principal Dr GS Wander, Dean Academics Dr Rajoo Singh Chhina and Medical Supdts. Dr Ashwini Chaudhary and Dr Sandeep Sharma. Principal Dr Sandeep Puri said that DMC Alumni Meet is like a home coming function for all the alumni, who had spent fruitful years of their life in making their professional career.    
The whole proceedings of the CME and Alumni Meet were very impressively conducted by Convenor of DMC Alumni Committee -Dr Shibba T Chabbra (Associate Professor of Cardiology, HDHI) along with Dr Hitant Vohra and Dr Omesh Goyal. Dr Shibba along with few other faculty members beautifully compared a show in the evening to make all alumni present there danced to old and new foot-tapping songs. Dr Shibba and Dr Amarinder (Joint Secretary, DMC Alumni Committee) made Alumni Meet evening most memorable and enjoyable by their tricks
Secretary of DMC Alumni Committee- Dr Dinesh Jain (Professor of Medicine) proposed a vote of thanks to all the alumni present on the occasion and assure that in future, more such programmes and CMEs will be organized to further strengthen the bonding of all alumni of DMCH.
