Dr Daljit Singh, former Principal Dayanand Medical College & Hospital, Ludhiana has been appointed as Vice Chancellor of Sri Guru Ram Das University of Health Sciences, Amritsar. With over 36 years of teaching experience and a rich administrative experience at CMC and DMCH Ludhiana, he is now given charge to lead the emerging medical university being run by the SGPC trust. Earlier he has occupied various roles inthe Baba Farid University of Health Sciences, Faridkot, as Dean of Faculty of Medical Sciences, Member of Senate, Academic Council and UG/PG Board of Studies.
Dr Daljit Singh is a Fellow of Indian Academy of pediatrics (IAP), National Neonatology Forum (NNF), National Academy of Medical Sciences (FAMS) and International Medical Sciences Academy (FIMSA). He was awarded fellowship of Foundation for Advancement of International Medical Education and Research (FAIMER) Institute, Philadelphia, USA and was visiting fellow in Pediatric Pulmonology at Royal College of Physicians, RCPCH, UK. He has authored 5 books in the field of medical education and Pediatrics, apart from 20 chapters in books and more than 120 scientific papers in international/Indian indexed journals. He was founder president of Intensive Care Chapter of IAP Punjab, President and Secretary of IAP Punjab as well as NNF. He received advanced training in medical educational technology and has been intimately involved in promotion of quality medical education. Several innovative methods and strategies have been developed and implemented by him for both undergraduate and post graduate medical education in the area of curriculum development, teaching methodology and student evaluation. His outstanding academic and administrative background makes him most suitable for his new assignment which will enhance the level of medical education in Punjab.
