Dr Vivek Gupta, (Consultant, Cardiac Anaesthesia & Intensive Care, HDHI) is being honored & Awarded “IMA Dr AKN Sinha National Award” by Indian Medical Association under the category “Outstanding & Distinguished Services Award”. This prestigious award of AKN Sinha Institute, the academic wing of Indian Medical Association is given every year for outstanding and distinguished services in the medical field to serve humanity.
Dr Vivek Gupta is being awarded for his significant contribution in CPR training program not only at national level but to SAARC countries as well. The award will be conferred to him on 28th Dec 2019 in an award function held at 80th Annual Meeting of IMA Central Council (IMA NATCON-2019) in Kolkata.
In his message, Dr Vivek Gupta extended heartfelt thanks to Governing Board of Indian Medical Association (IMA) for recognizing his contribution in spreading the knowledge of CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation). He said besides doctors it is important for every citizen of the country to learn CPR and with the help of IMA & Indian Resuscitation Council, we will organize training at various levels. He made a special mention of DMCH Managing Society under the guidance of Secretary Sh Prem Kumar Gupta, who has always been equally supportive and actively involved not only in providing best of the quality treatment facilities to the patients undergoing treatment in DMCH & HDHI but encourage & support these training activities for society welfare.
Vice-Principal & Chief Cardiologist, HDHI-Dr GS Wander congratulated Dr Vivek Gupta for receiving this esteemed award. He said CPR training should be encouraged even at school level. He added, in case of cardiac arrest when heart stops working, an early initiation of CPR by family, friend or bystanders in initial few minutes is very crucial to save many lives. Dr Wander said that Hero DMC Heart Institute has always been in the forefront in providing state-of-art quality care to the patients suffering from cardiac aliments and providing the ultramodern services and facilities to them.
According to Dr Vivek Gupta, Hero DMC Heart Institute (HDHI) also has a unique facility of Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO) which is available in the selected medical centers of India and since its inception in the year 2013 in HDHI, the facility has been quite helpful in saving life of patients suffering from various heart condition (due to poisoning, cardiac arrest, viral infection, major heart attack) and lung condition such as ARDS due to swine flu or other infection.
