University Business School, Panjab University Regional Centre, Ludhiana organised a One-Day workshop on “Anatomy of Research Methodology in Social Sciences” for Faculty members and Research Scholars. 45 Faculty Members, Researchers representing various universities and colleges across Punjab participated in the Workshop. The key objective behind organizing this workshop was to enhance the skills of faculty members and researchers to undertake the quality research effectively. Professor Dr. Ravi Inder Singh, Director, University Business School, Panjab University Regional Centre Ludhiana, while delivering the welcome address raised his concerns regarding continuous deterioration in the quality of academic research. Quoting some of his personal experiences as examiner of Ph. D thesis, he emphasized researchers while writing for their Ph.D thesis and research papers need to very much cautious about the quality of work.
Dr. Pushpender Kumar, Assistant Professor, Kirori Mal College, University of Delhi, New Delhi was the resource person for this workshop. He is doctorate from FMS, Delhi university and a Post-Doc from Alliant University, California, USA. Dr Kumar is alumnus (FDP), IIM Ahmedabad and recipient of DAAD Fellowship, Germany & Raman Fellowship, America. During 3 sessions of this one-day workshop, he discussed the various important issues related to research methodology in social sciences. He particularly talked about selection of research topic, construct, variables, proposition development, research questions, research objectives and formulation of research hypotheses etc. All the sessions remained quite interactive as participants raised many of their queries. Event concluded with vote of thanks proposed by Dr. Ashish Saihjpal, Co-ordinator UBS, Ludhiana.
