University Institute of Laws,PURC,Ludhiana organised a ‘two day’event Model Youth Parliament ,2020 on 28th February,2020 as an endevour to provide a platform to young lawyers and socially enthusiastic students to discuss and debate on issues of National importance and to propose solutions for the same.
The event was inaugrated by lamp lighting ceremony by the Chief Guests S.Ravneet Singh Bittu,Member Of Parliament and Prof.Devinder Singh along with Prof.RaviInderSingh,Director PURC Ludhiana and Prof.ArtiPuri,Coordinator,Department of Law  and Dr. Shiv Kumar Dogra. After that ,Director Ravi Inder Singh presented a hearty welcome to chief guest.
After the ceremony Prof.ArtiPuri introduced the event to the audience and gave insight above the recognised issues of Lok Sabha i.e. The Citizenship (Amendment) Act,2019 and One Nation One Election.
Prof.Devinder Singh was the keynote speaker for the event and emphasized on the importance of organising such events which provide a platform to youth to experience the environment of the Parliament and gives the empowering feeling of being capable to bring change in the society.
In the first session, Citizenship Amendment Act,2019  was discussed taking in account the right to equality and principle of secularism enshrined in our constitution. Students were divided into different portfolios  and they expressed their opinions about the pros and cons of the Act.
It provided an insight to the audience about the act.
The second session was based on the issue ‘One Nation, One Election’. Different portfolios depicted different perspectives of elections, its loopholes, its advantages and how the election process can be improved.
The first day of the event was concluded with the felicitation of the guests and Vote of Thanks by Dr. Shiv Kumar Dogra, Coordinator of B.A. LL.B., P.U.R.C. ,Ldh.
The event proved to be a great source of learning for the participants.
